I have always loved anything in miniature. As far back as I can remember, miniature things in any form could take me away to a place in my imagination where I was content to stay forever.

I found my artistic passion after creating my first still life in miniature of my Grandmother's pantry. I loved the idea of re-creating from memory all of the things that made my Grandmother's pantry so special; the jars of garlic pickles and dilled carrots that she canned each fall, and the local sausage and cheese that she always kept on hand.

I love to take inspiration from special memories that fill me with joy or things around me that I find beautiful - my grandmother's pantry; the scent of lavender while we prepared lunch by the garden on a farmhouse table in early summer; the chocolate and caramel cheesecakes I spotted last weekend at the bakeshop in the city. By re-creating these pieces in 1:12 scale, I forever have something to remind me of those memories and the beauty that simple things like a perfectly glazed cookie can inspire.

I wanted a place to create miniatures that would evoke this same feeling in other people - that tell a potential story, or at least a page from a story, and bring back to life a cherished memory. I wanted to have a place where other people could find these miniatures in 1:12 scale and enjoy them as much as I do. Windy Point Miniatures on Etsy afforded me that opportunity.

You do not have to be a dollhouse collector to enjoy 1:12 scale. I have also created custom still life pieces to sit on a bookshelf or as an accent on a desk. I have also turned many of my miniatures into magnets.

As for the shop name, Windy Point was what my Grandmother used to call the place where I grew up, so it seemed only fitting to name the shop Windy Point Miniatures.

All of my miniatures are made by me, and originate from my own ideas. I do collaborate with other miniature artisans from time to time and include a few of these items in my cabinets and or as props for my photos. Their names are always included in the listings, as I think supporting other miniature artisans who have original ideas and work hard to create something unique with their own hands is important.
