Before caffeine or fossil fuels, there is a universal addiction from which we all must wean ourselves at a young age. The alluring appendages have served not just as a source of nourishment and stimulation, but also as artistic inspiration for generations. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Christina Ward from the Etsy Plush Team wrote a moving post this week about gaining recognition for the cause by flashing some compassion with a sense of humor. Today's Keep it Weird pays homage to that spirit with some mammary madness.

Celebrate boobs and raise awareness for breast cancer screening and prevention! My mother had it (she's still here 20 years later, TG!) and one of my friends was diagnosed with BC when she was only 26. Self exams, regular gyneo exams and knowing what the signs are of BC are so important in it's prevention and detection.

Oh wow. The boob scarf. That is just fantastic. Not sure if I'd wear it, but it did make me pretty happy here. I've made boobed monsters in my shared studio, have gotten quite some weird looks from people for that too. Boobs rock.

I am currently going through treatment for breast cancer - it sucks.
Remember to check yourself-- catch it early if you have to catch it! ... and keep in mind breast cancer can get you at any age... any.

The Implants mosaic is hysterical! I love it. I worked with breasts for almost 4 years when I sold lingerie and fit customers, and have learned to appreciate the many different shapes and sizes of one of the things that makes us women!

My husband lost his first wife of 23 years to breast cancer, I lost a baby daughter to a rare genetic disorder.

Live every day with love and joy - even if it is to simply savor a cup of tea - or a hug, or the smell of the morning air.
It can all be taken away in an instant.

Live mindfully.

Humor heals and these are some of the breast (I mean best) artworks ever...When I designed a conical lidded container to honor the Goddess within, my friends picked "Treasure Breast" out of all the ideas I had for what to call it. (Lidded cone shaped container thingy with purple inside" just wasn't working.)

Fantastic job - keep the awareness up! It works. My Mum had breast cancer in 1991 - she found the lump, had treatment, and is still hale and hearty at 80. She would have missed both of my kids, and her 2 great-grandchildren and I would have been bereft all these years. Anything that makes people think and be aware is worth any effort.
