For as long as I can remember, every holiday season with my family has relied on two unwavering traditions: countertops slick with grease from latkes gone astray, and my father weighing each gift-wrapped box assessing that this time, he's positive, it must be a pastrami sandwich. Like a surprise birthday party, the odd-ball gift captures the essence of the grand reveal. Could anyone say, "I totally saw it coming that you were going to buy me a hand felted brain in a jar!"? Exactly. This week's Keep it Weird has everything your friends and family never knew they wanted.

Excellently played, Etsy, this whole spotlighting the "weirder" side of handmade is genius. Everything's pretty darn original and inspired, y'know? The Sylvia Plath paper doll bums me out a bit (respect the Plath), but it's well-drawn, so okay. The Etain and Inox sculpture is incredible, organic alien chic. You're right, I never knew how much I wanted that. Plus, everything by TillyBloom drips fantabulous.
