Etsy's Handmade Blog
Buyer Overload

AmeliaMakesArt's felted pet portraits send us into a cuteness induced swoon. They seem to have had a similar effect on the bloggers from Cute Overload. (One of our favorite blogs, btw!)  She said she got about 3000 hits on one item in the first four hours after their post.

She did have the frustration of having the item that the post linked to sell early on.  Hopefully those who were interested were willing to check out the rest of her shop.  It's an issue we admins often have when talking to the press: we try to remind them to link to the seller's shop, at least in addition to the one listing they may be writing about specifically.  Many reporters who aren't familiar with Etsy assume that we're "stocked" — when, in fact, many items are completely unique or custom orders!

Amelia told us that the exposure has given her "the wonderful problem of being too busy. I am now booked through December but the orders still come in anyway."

It's a great idea to subscribe to RSS feeds of your favorite blogs.  Now you can even get alerts on chosen keywords, such as your shop name. One of the best services out there is Google Reader

That's so great for Amelia to be featured on the cute blog, I've been eyeing her work for a long time, haven't had the chance to buy yet but am sure I will eventually! Conrgrats to Amelia, I'm so happy for you that your talent got recognized!

Congrats on the Cute Overload! I've been eyeing your pups for awhile now. I'm afraid my real pup might eat one so I have to create a special dog-proof case first!

hhhaha, I meant dog. But yes, he is a god-like dog. Classic typo.
