I just love seeing what folks are collecting. I guess I feel it tells us just a little bit about what inspires them, what they love, and what they choose to surround themselves with in their homes. Today I'm delighted to present the next installment in an ongoing series here on The Storque: The Collectors. First presented on my own little blog, the rikrak studio, it's 11 and a half quick questions with a wonderful artist on what they're collecting (apart from their art supplies!). 

Oh October! How I love you! And I just adore this month’s featured collection, too! Like Halloween, BoopsieDaisy’s Pez dispensers showcase an appreciation of nostalgia, a love of whimsy, a panache for color,  and a celebration of…candy! Delightful! So join me as we skip hand-in-hand down Gumdrop Lane and revel in the sugar-covered sweet sweet joy of collecting!


Who (are you?): Missy Munday of Boopsiedaisy

What (are you collecting?): Pez Dispensers

When (did you start?): Seven years ago

How (many do you have?): 209 at last count

Where (do you find them) and (do you keep them?): Yard sales, thrift stores, flea markets & souvenir shops. I keep them in our dining room.

What (piece would you like to add?): The two that top my wish list are Snow White and Frankenstein, the original 60's versions.

Why (do you love them?): Besides that they double as delicious, colorful wall candy, they're instantly recognizable as collectible, totally timeless, and seem to beckon back to a time that was simpler.
Plus they spoonfeed you candy.

Which (one is your favorite?): It's sort of a three-way toss-up between Gargamel (for looks), the vintage clown (my rarest) and the vintage witch (which has sentimental value).

What (else do you collect): Too much to list, really, but primarily different editions of Snow White and Alice in Wonderland books, dolls, Wizard of Oz merch, Muppets stuff, vintage valentines and squeak toys, and anything relating to Drew Barrymore.

Like her delicious and fun-filled collection, Missy’s brilliant shop is genuine eye candy for the soul. Just a moment savoring her sweet and sugar-coated, tantalizing and gasp-worthy, rainbow-sprinkled handmade world, promises to banish the grayest day and delight your senses!

Her enchanting and whimsical creations have captured the wide-eyed imagination of many, and it’s with holding-my-breath delight that I tune in on a daily basis to see what fantastical new fairy tales she’s crafted in her vivid life and work. What a joy!

I love it!! I collect the pocket mint and candy tins, I must have close to 1,000 by now. I have them all on the walls of my living room in special shelves....it's like a huge mosaic of color and texture. I think collecting candy related items is a way of satisfying my love of all things colorful!!

I have a Pez dispenser collection too! When I first got out of college, I used them to decorate my Christmas tree - hung them off hooks I made out of paper clips...it worked, AND it was cheap!

Oh, I love the photos of the Pez dispensers...so colorful!!!!!! I don't have a large collection, but I have accumulated some tin robots, also some tin and metal crosses.....and then there's my stash of cotton fabrics...oh, wait, I also collect different pieces of art that say "Peace" in one way or another......I guess I collect more than I thought! (And I consider myself a minimalist!)

Love any collections that are colorful! Me? Well, let's see, my biggest collection is my Fiestaware. Though it's not really a collection, I love looking at all my spools of different colored threads. I have a few pieces of vintage Pyrexware bowls from the '50's. Anyway, congrats on your collection and being displayed on Etsy!

That's one gorgeous and colorful collection! I collect glass bird christmas tree ornaments--the kind that have the clips and feather tails. Those plus music--lots of it!

P.S. I collect Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Ann themed items, new and vintage. I have dolls, old books, cereal bowls, just about anything. There are so many things, I am trying to limit now to very old and/or unusual, or I would have to buy a house just for Ann and Andy!

Fantastic! My old roommate had a PEZ collection, and I had a teeny one for a while, but it was mostly Santas. Those guys are easy to come by. :)

I collect vintage sheet music, old joke books, and etymology books (where words come from). I am a nerd.

Mmmm, candy! I used to collect Pez dispensers on a small scale, but never became a connoisseur.

I have been collecting burned out light bulbs for the past 6 or 7 years (though the habit's died down a bit lately because of space). I've used them in art projects, and store a lot at my parents' house in random stemmed glasses I found at the thrift store.

I can't wait to see what others are collecting, too!

Besides two rooms of fabric (some would say that qualifies as an obsession, not a collection) I collect china -- mostly pre-WWII British china, but there are many 'pretties' from other times and places that catch my eye and join the others.

I also have a small collection of antique etiquette and cook books. Little windows into other times.

So nice and colorful!
I collect nutcrackers, new, old, cute and even ugly, I have yet to meet one that I do not love. This is another reason why I am insanely enamored with Christmas, it is the only time of the year when I get to go nuts, and display my collecion in it's entirety.

Oh, the library just had their Pez Collection on display!! How fun are they!! I remember them as a kid and now 46 years old - they are still quite a delight to see. I love this collection! The colors are amazing!

I collect mermaid things; anything from hairbrushes or soap dispensers to art, christmas tree ornaments, lights, wall hangings, key chains, kitchenware, clothing and more! My entire room is decorated with my mermaid collection.

I have even applied for a Guinness World Record!

- matchbooks/boxes, bottle caps, wine & champagne corks, ashtrays, cardboard coasters. so basically, barware.

- fortune cookie fortunes, movie & concert tickets

- and i'd say shoes also, but that's more out of necessity! ;-)

I have a collection of Erasers. I've been collecting them since I was a little girl. They're some from the early 80s, making them vintage. :]
I decided to take some of my collection and turn them into wearable pieces!

So colorful! I love the Seinfeld episode with the Pez dispenser. The funniest part is when Jerry makes the Tweety dispenser clap at the end of the piano recital. This article just reminded me of that episode... :)
