With this tutorial you will be creating my ‘FACEPLATE’ Foundation Base in my hollow EVA foam style! This tutorial goes though my method of constructing my Face-plate system.
This is currently my 3rd version of this pattern and it has gone through extensive testing in order to get it to the stage it is now!
My Kemono Canine Base featured my very 1st iteration of this pattern. I've yet to verify if this needs modifications to work, I'll update with more information after I've done some fit tests.
***EDIT: You WILL need to modify the Kemono Canine to fit this foundation base! This base is taller and the canine muzzle site approximately 10mm higher than the nose bridge on this foundation base ends. If you decide to use this for the canine I recommend shortening the top edge of FACE by 10mm, move the edge down. Make sure you keep the length of the top edge the same and smooth the line to the first SIDE notch. Its not a difficult mod to do but just something to be aware of!***
The video accompanying this is intended to be used as a companion piece to this PDF Tutorial. You can find it here: https://youtu.be/B-bPwzIbrVQ
If you would like to see how I use the DIY Template to make a fursuit head I've got a video on it here: https://youtu.be/v1TLfh8isgQ
***you must print the PDF file out at home and construct the Foundation Base yourself***
There is a separate 'Pattern Only' file if you wish to save on ink and paper when printing your PDF.
I've supplied it in both A4 and LETTER. Print to actual scale, you should not need to resize these files!
I’d love to see what you guys make with the pattern so please use the hashtag #MadeWithMissrars and let me see all your wonderful creations!
*WHAT YOU WILL MAKE*
By the end of this guide you will have a FACEPLATE base ready to draft your own original fursuit head pattern onto!
Patterns are included for the Foundation Base and a handy Template Guide for you to draw your blueprints over. There are materials and tools lists contained within the PDF and on each pattern piece along with full instruction.
*WHAT YOU WILL NEED*
1 EVA mat
I find a utility knife works best for cutting bevels on a cutting mat.
For gluing I use Contact Adhesive, I've been told hotglue can work but I don't recommend it.
Please exercise caution and wear proper PPE(Personal Protection Equipment) when working. You MUST wear a respirator rated for VOCS when using Contact Adhesive.
*By using this pattern and PDF you state you are of legal age(18+) to use the Tools/Materials suggested OR have Parent/Guardian to do so for you or Supervision/Consent for you to follow my process*
