Payment

Etsy uses a secure payment system where you can pay with a credit or debit card, or via PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Etsy Gift Cards or Credits. Etsy keeps your payment information secure. Etsy shops never receive your credit card information. Items will not be sent to you until payment has been made.

Delivery

All my patterns (except the bespoke toys) are offered as pdfs and Etsy instantly sends a download link to your inbox once payment has been made. If you don't see the email, please check your Spam folder. If you have an Etsy account, you can also access the file from your 'Purchases and reviews' page. If you purchased as a guest, you'll find the link to download your item in the receipt that was emailed to you after purchase – the link will direct you to the order’s Downloads page.

If you've ordered a bespoke toy, I'll message you directly to discuss your requirements and to confirm the timescale of delivery (usually around 3 weeks).

Additional policies and FAQs

Terms of Use
Please note that all patterns are intended for personal use only and not for financial gain. When purchasing a pattern from Becky Skuse, you agree that you will not copy, loan, share or redistribute any pattern, and it will only be used by you, the purchaser. You also agree not to resell any pattern or sell items made using any pattern. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about what you may or may not do with the pattern. Thank you.

Pattern mistakes
Every pattern goes through a rigorous process of checking and pattern testing to make sure it's free from mistakes so you can fully enjoy making your item. However, I'm only human and mistakes occasionally still happen. If you spot anything odd or have any questions about a pattern, I absolutely want to hear about it so please don't be shy! Please do get in touch with me at contactmakemedo [!at] gmail.com and I'll do my best to help. And you'll be helping me to improve the pattern!

Pattern updates
I do occasionally update patterns – to correct mistakes, or to add extra information, new photos or diagrams following a customer request. The latest pattern version should always be available for you to download via your Etsy account.

Replying to messages
If you do get in touch, please be patient if I don't get back to you straight away – it may take me up to two working days to reply to your query.

Environmental policy
I care passionately about the environment and strive to be as green as possible. I've been following a plant-based lifestyle since 2007, our home is well-insulated, our thermostat is never higher than 20-degrees Celsius, and all our electricity comes from renewable sources, mostly the solar panels on our roof! We compost and recycle as much as possible and when I'm crafting nothing ever goes to waste. I have a make-do-and-mend philosophy, which means only buying new when I absolutely have to. I'm always trying to find ways to improve though!

Your personal details
Please be reassured that I totally respect your privacy. I never store customer details outside of the Etsy platform. I do use the Etsy platform to contact customers, but only in relation to the pattern you've purchased. This might include thanking you for your purchase, letting you know about any errata or pattern update, or to ask you how you're getting on with the pattern. I will never contact you via your email address, unless you email me first, and then my focus will only be on the pattern you've purchased. For full details of my privacy policy, see below.

Privacy

This Privacy Policy describes how and when I collect, use, and share information when you purchase an item from me, contact me, or otherwise use my services through Etsy.com or its related sites and services.

This Privacy Policy does not apply to the practices of third parties that I do not own or control, including Etsy or any third party services you access through Etsy. You can reference the Etsy Privacy Policy to learn more about its privacy practices.

1. Personal information I collect
To fulfil your order, you must provide me with certain information (which you authorised Etsy to provide to me), such as your name, email address, postal address, payment information, and the details of the product that you’re ordering. You may also choose to provide me with additional personal information (for a custom order, for example), if you contact me directly.

2. Why I Need Your Information and How I Use It
I rely on a number of legal bases to collect, use, and share your information, including:
• as needed to provide my services, such as when I use your information to fulfil your order, to settle disputes, or to provide customer support;
• when you have provided your affirmative consent, which you may revoke at any time, such as by signing up for my mailing list;
• if necessary to comply with a legal obligation or court order or in connection with a legal claim, such as retaining information about your purchases if required by tax law; and
• as necessary for the purpose of my legitimate interests, if those legitimate interests are not overridden by your rights or interests, such as 1) providing and improving my services. I use your information to provide the services you requested and in my legitimate interest to improve my services; and 2) Compliance with the Etsy Seller Policy and Terms of Use. I use your information as necessary to comply with my obligations under the Etsy Seller Policy and Terms of Use.

3. Information Sharing and Disclosure
Information about my customers is important to my business. I share your personal information for very limited reasons and in limited circumstances, as follows:
• Etsy. I share information with Etsy as necessary to provide you my services and comply with my obligations under both the Etsy Seller Policy and Etsy Terms of Use.
• Service providers. I engage certain trusted third parties to perform functions and provide services to my shop, such as delivery companies. I will share your personal information with these third parties, but only to the extent necessary to perform these services.
• Business transfers. If I sell or merge my business, I may disclose your information as part of that transaction, only to the extent permitted by law.
• Compliance with laws. I may collect, use, retain, and share your information if I have a good faith belief that it is reasonably necessary to: (a) respond to legal process or to government requests; (b) enforce my agreements, terms and policies; (c) prevent, investigate, and address fraud and other illegal activity, security, or technical issues; or (d) protect the rights, property, and safety of my customers, or others.

4. Data Retention
I retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to provide you with my services and as described in my Privacy Policy. However, I may also be required to retain this information to comply with my legal and regulatory obligations, to resolve disputes, and to enforce my agreements. I generally keep your data for the following time period: 7 years.

5. Transfers of Personal Information Outside the EU
I may store and process your information through third-party hosting services in the US and other jurisdictions. As a result, I may transfer your personal information to a jurisdiction with different data protection and government surveillance laws than your jurisdiction. If I am deemed to transfer information about you outside of the EU, I rely on Privacy Shield as the legal basis for the transfer, as Google Cloud and other services are Privacy Shield certified.

6. Your Rights
If you reside in certain territories, including the EU, you have a number of rights in relation to your personal information. While some of these rights apply generally, certain rights apply only in certain limited cases. I describe these rights below:
• Access. You may have the right to access and receive a copy of the personal information I hold about you by contacting me using the contact information below.
• Change, restrict, delete. You may also have rights to change, restrict my use of, or delete your personal information. Absent exceptional circumstances (like where I am required to store data for legal reasons) I will generally delete your personal information upon request.
• Object. You can object to (i) my processing of some of your information based on my legitimate interests and (ii) receiving marketing messages from me after providing your express consent to receive them. In such cases, I will delete your personal information unless I have compelling and legitimate grounds to continue using that information or if it is needed for legal reasons.
• Complain. If you reside in the EU and wish to raise a concern about my use of your information (and without prejudice to any other rights you may have), you have the right to do so with your local data protection authority.

How to Contact Me
For purposes of EU data protection law, I, Becky Skuse, am the data controller of your personal information. If you have any questions or concerns, you may contact me at contactmakemedo [!at] gmail.com.
See this Seller Handbook article for a sample privacy policy you can customise for your shop.
