I had been making accessories for adults for some years, back in the 1990s, when I was approached to produce some little versions for a shop in West London. I was really surprised but happy to see how quickly this range took off, and how popular it was. Then, I became a partner in a children's clothing company based in London's Portobello Road; we had a lovely little shop that was super kid-friendly and I created a whole range of knitting clothes: hats, sweaters, cardigans, trousers, skirts, dresses....

Although I loved being in my shop it was really time-consuming and I found I had little time to spend making new designs. So, I left and have set up a little online shop for kids here. At present there are lots of hats, because they were always the most popular items. My number one priority is that children like the pieces: if they are happy, then so are the parents! I also firmly believe that my pieces should last generations - I've had past customers apologise to me that they passed down my pieces to family members - but nothing makes me more happy than hearing that! Firstly it means the piece was treasured, and secondly, I know it has lasted well. So you can rest assured that my pieces are built for the long haul.

I also make sure that my kids pieces are made from soft, natural fibres that will never itch. Finally, every last piece is made entirely by me, in my little North London studio. Sometimes my studio assistant attends, but as she is canine I keep her away from all my yarns and knits and her 'assistance' takes the form of wagging a tail and snoring.
