Artist Turned Movement Artist Turned Artist

I sold a drawing of a ninja turtle at age 7. I made my first sale! I kept drawing into high school, focusing on bodies and Escher-style illusions.

And then it hit me. This movement thing. It started with liquid dance, contact juggling and glowsticks (yes, I was a glowsticker).

When I moved to Eugene, Oregon, I found fire dancing with poi and staff. I took art classes, 3 years of dance, and in 2010, moved to the Vulcan in Oakland, California-- a warehouse complex with lots of artists, jugglers and fire spinners. Living there for 7 months, my brain turned on to even more possibilities, and I've spent 5 years mapping movement with props.

And teaching it.... So much art has come from making charts!

Now I make art that's informative, beautiful, and sometimes both :)
