Welcome to ExuberArt! I create original, vibrant abstract paintings, steampunk, textured & mixed media wall art.
Hello and welcome to ExuberArt, my little island art studio.
After twenty years of writing fiction, I yearned to return to fine art for a visual creative outlet that combined my love of color and texture, and my interest in protecting the environment.
Once I discovered I could sculpt textures and shapes into drywall / joint compound, I knew I’d found my medium.
Then, when I realized I could craft canvases from recycled wood panels found locally, and reuse old cans of acrylic paint from our recycle depot, I had all the elements to create original, colorful wall decor art while doing something positive for the environment.
Nothing inspires me more than color. I love the freedom of spatter painting, the fascination from watching the paint run and swirl, creating gorgeous, unique patterns.
I've fallen in love with the Steampunk style, and love working with the striking colors, mixed media elements, like clock gears, metal slices and shavings, and old skeleton keys. Once I discovered I could add mini-quartz clock mechanisms to my paintings, I began producing bold Steampunk art enhanced by a working clock. Original yet practical.
Recently, I was admiring some local stained glass windows when I figured, why not recreate that dazzling harlequin light in my work? I’m now producing a number of multi-paneled pieces, each glowing with my stylized stained glass. Picking the mosaics and colors for each is a lot of fun!
As an author, I love words. Poetry inspires many of my ideas and works of art, and recently the haunting words of Robert Service has motivated my new series of inukshuks, many sculpted under colorful northern lights.
I have a blast scrounging for materials, crafting my designs, and putzing in my little art studio. I hope viewing my art offers you the same joy, vibrancy and entertainment.
