Raising Awarness for Fragile X Syndrome
We started Green Tree Jewelry over 15 years ago. My father had worked over 30 years created hand crafted wood products. In 2007 during our busiest time of year, our barn, which was our little shop where we made everything happen, burnt down.
The years following were a struggle until one day we came up with the idea to make laser-cut wood earrings. We started at craft fairs and eventually started selling to zoo's aquariums and gift shops.
A few years later my wife and I had our first son. Fast forward, the day our second son was born was the day our son was diagnosed with Fragile X Syndrome. We became more purpose driven. We juggled therapies and running a business and still continued expanding our family via IVF to have two more beautiful children.
We have since shifted our focus. Crafting USA made quality items at an affordable price is still very important to us. However, what is more important is raising awareness for Fragile X Syndrome. It took a lot of fighting, searching and advocating to get the diagnosis. Fragile X Syndrome is the leading genetic cause of autism. Early intervention and awareness is key.
