Beauty from Unexpected Places
After seeing an artist at a local craft fair who worked with guitar strings I couldn't get it out of my mind for weeks. I loved the look of the strings wound on each other, I loved the idea that something destined for the trash found a new purpose and was beautiful again. I decided to start experimenting with my own style and ideas. What followed was the beginning of Lucky Strings Jewelry.
My style is pretty natural and easy. I get my inspiration from everything around me - I'm always watching what people are wearing from styles to shapes, beads and charms. I enjoy fashion from all over the world and take it in every chance I get from excursions to the streets of Paris, London and other parts of Europe to the simple musings of my wanderlust heart at home in New Jersey, US. Always up for a challenge, my best pieces have come from personal challenges - so bring it on!
My strings are donated from local guitar repair shops and a few local musicians as well. Sometimes I will get new strings donated but the majority of my strings have been played well and shift from creating music to creating gorgeous pieces of jewelry.
Some of my favorite moments creating jewelry come from using people's personal strings to make a piece just for them. Whether it's the mom wanting earrings from her child's strings, someone wanting a gift for their loved one or someone wanting a bracelet from their strings off their very first handmade guitar - it's been a beautiful thing to be part of every special moment.
