Polymer clay + a little wire = wearable art
Jill Kollmann, JKay Jewelry: I use polymer clay to create one of a kind artisan pieces, all hand made myself. Specialties include micro sculpt applique and fine wire accents on jewelry and home décor items including special trinket boxes. Tutorials are available as part of my Guided Discoveries (c) series.
I love working with polymer clay! I have my sister to thank for getting me started, and many other clayers to thank for teaching me how to refine techniques and master skills to create beautiful items that are well made and one of a kind. I also enjoy working with wire so every once it a while you'll see some wire elements combined with the clay.
My work is heavily influenced by stories my grandmother used to tell me about ladies' afternoon tea and "at home" days when callers would be received and entertained. That was back when those sorts of gatherings were dutifully reported in the Society Page of the local newspaper, and always fun to read.
When I'm not indulging myself with floral applique, I enjoy a wide range of polymer clay techniques that result in different looks, some more contemporary, and always finished with attention to detail.
