Karazi Design, a journey
It all started in 1999, while I was traveling in India.. I bought a bunch of jewelry and decided, when I got back to the states, I would sell it and it could pay for another trip to India. After arriving in India the first time, everything in my life had changed. I saw the world differently and knew I wanted to create a life for myself that revolved around traveling and India.
I sold all the jewelry I bought in India, in one day, while sitting on a sheet on the ground at a small festival in Madison, Wi. After that, I thought.. Wow! I could make jewelry and sell it.. Karazi design was born, that day. I began beading jewelry and selling it at farmers markets together with my sister.
In 2003, I returned to India, and this time, I had a focus, I wanted to study traditional Indian goldsmithing. And by the grace of serendipity, I met Kumar. We still work together 14 years later.
Karazi Design has evolved into an international jewelry company, supporting small artisans around the world. Our jewelry is sold worldwide including trunk shows at Bloomingdales, boutiques in Istanbul, museums in Seattle and more. We stick to our mission of bringing together modern and ancient design, culture and supporting the small guys along the way.
I now spend a lot of time designing and making jewelry in Bali, and return to India each year to work with my two teachers there.
