IKEX's Story
It was while preparing an exhibition in Paris a while ago that the idea germinated, to create a parody:
As usual, I sorted the photos for the exhibition, an exhibition on the theme of abandoned places. An Ikea catalog was lying around on the table, I think I had received it by post the same afternoon. I have always been a customer of this brand, and I really like their catalog, which has become iconic.
Suddenly, the idea came to me: my photos look like Ikea showrooms, but decay's version! After checking, no one had had the idea before...
As I was coming out of a long phase of writing a play, a comedy (which has since been performed), it was without any difficulty that I was able to put a few texts on my images, or even start the project to publish a real parody catalog!
After contacting Kisskissbankbank about the feasibility of a parody catalog creation project, the idea caught on. The catalog n°1 (since sold out, or almost) was released on this crownfunding platform, with more than 200% of the objective achieved.
Since then, IKEX n°2 and IKEX 3 have come out, much more copious (at least 120 pages).
Distributed during signing sessions, exhibitions, we find here on ETSY permanently this book, bought for laughs, or to offer.
We all know a fan (or not) of Ikea, and we all know people who have renovated houses or apartments in a mess, to whom to offer this object which is also becoming cult.
When decoration rhymes with humour.
Because nothing is serious in life, especially not IKEX!
