The book was brand new and in excellent condition. My son, and I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The book has special meaning to me because the author, the late Mrs. Shirley Jackson, was my choir director for almost a decade. I learned so much about her childhood that I didn't know before, and the book gave me a more personal introduction to Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt than I gleamed from one of her biographies. A very good historical read that is a lot less about the queen and hot dogs than we thought and much more about fortuitous and giving relationships .
