"So, this is GREAT wool, beautiful color, nice heft and consistent felt density, and it worked perfectly for the backing of my granddaughter's cross-stitched Christmas stocking. BUT...! I steam pressed the wool prior to cutting it, and a couple of drops of water landed on the wool. I always use a white pressing cloth, and was horrified to find that those wet drops bled red/pink onto my pressing cloth! Many, many tepid water rinses, but the water would not run clear. Queried my crafting friends -- Rit Color Remover. To my relief, it worked! I would order this wool again, but I would absolutely test colorfastness and treat it if necessary before using it. I've had to re-make one stocking for color bleed (of the floss, not the wool backing), and that is no small thing!"
