I'm a working mom and wife who spends my days teaching art to high schoolers in rural North Carolina. I love teaching art, being creative, and making works with my children.

When my daughter was 9 months old, she experienced an apneic episode where she stopped breathing. My husband had to revive her through CPR. We spent many sleepless nights, days, weeks, and months full of worry. It was during this time that I felt a stronger need to meditate and pray to help ease my anxiety about her health. Like many creative people, my mind moves quickly and I have trouble focusing. I developed a way to meditate on one scripture passage at a time by illustrating it in colors, fonts, and designs while praying. This really helped focus my worried energy and lift it up to God.

My friends were the first ones that encouraged me to start a product line of these meditative pieces of art. My husband and I started making cards out of them. Those became very popular locally, so we started selling them here on Etsy. Then we started making larger prints of more meditative works. We're now selling those as well.

I really appreciate all the support and encouragement my family, friends, and all my Etsy followers have given me to continue creating. This has been a great way to share my work and stay centered at the same time.

In conjunction with the meditative artworks, I do a lot of commissions in oil, acrylic, and watercolor. If you would like your own customized work, please contact me. I'd love to make something special for you.

As my daughter grew, so has our business and family. My daughter and I worked together to come up with the Strong Women series that are our most popular works. She helps inspire me as we research some amazing women from around the world and their powerful words that bring us comfort and hope.

It's really "Our Etsy Store." I have been blessed with a wonderful family that help out a lot. My husband, Isaac, does a lot of the online work. Our daughter and our son generally accompany me to my little studio in our home. While I work and create, our children makes their own original works at their little artist table. My daughter often helps me with color scheme choices. She's an artist in the making. Both sets of our parents help with our store. They set up at craft fairs, make us meals, play with the children, promote our work, and much more.

Originally, I'm from South Carolina. My childhood was filled with creative opportunities in art, dance, and music classes. I thank God for my parents and their encouragement of my budding creativity. I graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne University with a degree in Art Education and minor in the Visual Arts. This is where my husband and I met. I completed my Masters in Art Education from East Carolina University before our children came along.

I have been very lucky and won many awards for my artworks and teaching. One of my best achievements was being named my school's Teacher of the Year in 2012-2013. In the March of 2015, I received an honorable mention for Budding Artist in the Hiddenite Center's Local Artist Show. My work was also on display at Lenoir-Rhyne University for their Juried Art Show in October of 2015. I was also the 2015 recipient of the Regional Artist Project Grant from the United Arts Council of Catawba County.
