Aprendí a hacer pulseras de la amistad como la mayoría de los niños, en un campamento de verano cuando era preadolescente. En 2017, me diagnosticaron ansiedad y depresión, y me quedé con las manos inquietas y los movimientos compulsivos. Redescubrí las pulseras de la amistad y descubrí que el acto repetitivo de anudar ayudaba a mis manos a transformar su energía destructiva en constructiva. Además, hacer pulseras me ayudaba a despejar la mente, obligándome a pensar en qué nudo haría a continuación. Aunque me he recuperado de estas enfermedades, sigo disfrutando de hacer pulseras como afición y pasión. En 2018, abrí un canal de YouTube (busquen "Innovaciones de Alex") donde muestro cómo hago algunas de estas pulseras y hago vídeos hablando de mis dificultades y de la normalización de las enfermedades mentales. Recientemente descubrí otros productos para mi tienda, como pendientes, peluches de ganchillo y pegatinas, por eso llamo a mi tienda "Innovaciones de Alex"; no hay límites para lo que podemos crear. ☆

I learned how to make friendship bracelets the way most kids do; in summer camp as a pre-teen. In 2017, I was diagnosed with anxiety and depression and was left with my constantly fidgeting hands and compulsive motions. I rediscovered friendship bracelets and found that the repetitive act of knotting helped my hands to transform their destructive energy to constructive. Plus, making bracelets helped to take my mind off of my worries by forcing me to think about which knot was coming next. Although I have recovered from these illnesses, I still enjoy making bracelets as a hobby and passion. I started a YouTube channel (search for Alex's Innovations) in 2018 showcasing how I make some of these bracelets, and I make videos speaking out about my struggles and normalizing mental illness. I recently discovered other products to add to my shop, like earrings, crocheted plushies, and stickers, which is why I call my shop Alex's Innovations; there is no limit to what we can create. ☆
