I am a painter and writer living in Lisbon. This shop is simply a place where I can offer my paintings to people who would like to live with them.
I was a teacher of Latin at the University of Lisbon for many years before moving to Hawaii, where I lived for several years. It was there that I began showing and selling my paintings. I have now returned to Lisbon and devote my time to painting and writing.
I do not work as a production studio. I paint one painting at a time, and each original is painted only once. I have no interest in making the same image over and over again. The paintings in this shop are pieces I have made because I wanted to paint them, and when one is sold, that particular painting has found its home.
Lisbon has become a great source of inspiration for me. I love its light, its colours, its old buildings, tiled walls, streets, balconies, cafés, laundry, signs and all the small details of ordinary life. It is a city with such a strong visual character that I often find myself wanting to write about it as much as I want to paint it.
I walk through the city with my camera and collect things I see along the way. Later, in the studio, I bring different elements together and invent a place of my own. The colours, architecture and details may all have been seen somewhere in Lisbon, but the finished painting is not a literal depiction of any particular street or building. It belongs to an imaginary, though accurate, Lisbon.

5 out of 5 starsThe vibrant colors of this painting make it stand out. It has a wonderful perspective, down a street with the sea in sight. Packed well and mailed promptly.

5 out of 5 starsThis painting is a gem. I say this because it is both small and beautiful. It would make a perfect gift for anyone, not just those with fond memories of Lisbon. The detail is amazing in such a small space: you see through the gossamer curtains to the buildings below. The colors are true, bright, but also calm. I was incredibly lucky to get it. As a jewel, it deserved an appropriate box (frame). It arrived quickly and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity and a background story to the painting. The painting is a valuable keepsake. My praise and thanks to Ana, the creator of such beauty.

5 out of 5 starsThe “Village in Bloom “is a beautiful and clever abstraction of flowers in front of a building. The flowers are front and center. Their large petals of thick paint make them spear as a mosaic of colored tiles like those of the building in the background. Calming, pleasingly colorful, and interesting, a unique view. Not only did I get a lovely little painting, but also an oversized postcard image o the wok, which certificate of authenticity, and a story behind the work. Just super. Thumbs up all the way around.
