Frequently asked questions
How do I access my files?
I find the easiest way to access digital download files is to log into your Etsy account on your computer/desktop (this doesn't work on the app), then go to your profile in the top right corner and click on the "Purchases and Reviews," tab. This should take you to a page where you can find your order and download your files. Etsy also sends out an email within a few minutes of purchase that includes a link that directs you to where you can download your files.
If for some reason you have issues accessing your files with the above methods, please let me know! I'm happy to give you a direct link to the files that you purchased :)
Can you make a custom order?
Yes, of course! I'm happy to resize any files for you, free of charge. However, please ask before you purchase if the resize that you want is possible before you purchase. Some prints might not work in certain dimensions.
Where can I print the artwork?
There are so many options!
Printing from home works wonderful, but I advise using a heavy paper to prevent bleeding through-this is very important for darker prints, less so for sketches. Check out our answer about paper types for more detail.
You can also take the files to a professional print shop, either using uploading it to their website or by bringing the files in-shop on a USB. With every purchase at my shop, I also send out a coupon list that has promo codes to some popular printing companies, including Shutterfly, CanvasChamp, Walgreens, OfficeDepot, MPIX, and PosterJack. But there are other great options as well. If you have any questions about what print shop would be best for your budget and what you want printed, reach out :)
What paper/medium do you recommend using for the prints?
For our vintage artwork, I usually recommend using some sort of heavy matte or textured paper, as it gives the art a more authentic vintage feel. For the best results, I generally suggest canvas, fine art paper, watercolor paper, or anything with a linen texture, although these can be a bit pricier, and not all print shops offer these options. (If you are printing at home, however, you can find all of these paper options on Amazon).
Of course, this is all up to personal preference, and some people prefer the look of glossy or semi-gloss paper for vintage art, and different things will look better for different prints.
What sizes can I print in using the files? / Which file should I use to print in the dimensions that I want?
I apologize, this is a little bit confusing, so buckle up!
Each file comes in 5 different ratio files, a 2x3 file, a 3x4 file, a 4x5 file, a 11x14 file, and a ISO (International Standard Size file). Each of these files can print in multiple sizes, as long as the dimensions match the ratio/proportion of the file used. I.e. the 2x3 file can print in 4x6, 6x9, and 8x12 since they are all the same proportions. For a full list of the sizes the files can print in, or to figure out which file you should use to print in the size that you want, please check in the item description.
If you want to print in a dimensions that you don't see on that list, I'm happy to resize the print for you :) See the question on custom orders for more info.
Where do you get the frames in the description photos? / Where do you recommend getting frames?
The display photos in my listings are actually digital product mockups, so unfortunately I don't own those frames, nor do I know where to get them.
If you are looking for custom framing, I recommend FrameItEasy or Framebridge. Otherwise, you can find good frames basically everywhere (including here on Etsy!). Some print shops also offer framing as well.
Personally though, my two favorite places to get frames, especially vintage frames, are my local thrift store and neighborhood garage sales :)
Are the files RGB or CMYK?
All of the files that I sell come in RGB. Most modern print shops nowadays only accept RGB files, not CMYK, as they do their own color conversion in shop. If you want to print at a print shop that requires CMYK files or if you would like to print at home with CMYK files, let me know, and I can get you a version of the files in CMYK.
