Asala is an Arabic word, it means authenticity, the reason for choosing that name is that we believe in authenticity in all its aspects, it means back to nature, giving value to our authentic self and to be ourselves, appreciate art and artists and all kind of beauties we have in life.
Fascinating by the very old art of Moroccan rug weaving and its beauty, we choose to promote the handmade Moroccan rugs to the world, and we are proud and happy to give most of the credit to the Moroccan woman who made it and set in front of her tools without having any plan or sketch, she has only her Imagination, her feelings, her dreams and her collective memory of her ancestors.
These wonderful eco-friendly rugs were made in the Atlas mountains by women for their families, women who passed weaving tradition down through the generations, Typically a Moroccan rug is full of symbols and signs, symbols of the daily life and the surrounding environment, while some are symbols with a magical power used for bringing the good things, protection and fertility.
The Moroccan rug is so personal, and for that there is never two exact similar rugs. Having a Moroccan handmade rug in your home, means that you have a unique piece of art with no similarity to any other rug and moreover, you have a part of the soul of the woman who made it.
