We enjoy finding unique crystals, rocks, and minerals, then make them beautifully wearable to send back out into the world for others to enjoy.
I attended Virginia Commonwealth University have a Bachelor Of Fine Arts with also a major in Art Education. While I was studying at VCU,I studied jewelry making to combine my love of gems into something new.
I am a full time high school art teacher working at the same school for over 20 years. I have always been fascinated with art and science in general.
I have been collecting ever since I was little. My grandmother bought our family a large quartz cluster that I loved and gazed into often. My father was a science major and studied minerals in college, he knew how much I loved them and brought me to the school to learn and identify minerals along with him. I can not forget how excited I was in that moment.
I decided to make my stones wearable and started with wire. People started asking me to make them for them and so my business began. Then I eventually met Adam Peterson. Adam is the other member of our shop.
The following is Adams story:
Adam started jewelry making in high school. He attended Full Sail University majoring in Multimedia Design. The day he graduated college he also became a teacher and started teaching three dimensional animation. Later he started pursuing his jewelry making talents again and eventually we met. Adam was helping me to resolve a design idea I had for a pendant and we just started to click about everything we had in common we even had some of the same ideas. When we started talking about our favorite movie director, Wes Anderson, I just knew we were going to be something! Adam's grandfather was a geologist and had many specimens that are now part of a museum collection. I guess you could say its in our blood. During our first date we were at our local gem society already cabbing our own rocks from rough material. Our second date was a photography adventure to our local environmental center taking macro photography shots and comparing what we could learn from each other. Since then we have acquired our own slab saw, flat lap, tumblers, cabbing machine by Diamond Pacific, faceting machine, and drill press, and one sphere making machine. We strive to reinvest our profit into more equipment to build our business to bring customers more handmade quality options.
