My jewelry comes from my heart and my love of shape, color and culture.
I started my shop to share the ever fascinating world of beads, color and shape with others. I have never ceased to be amazed at the story of the beads. From the black Aftrican trade beads made from Coors bottles to the whimsy of Murano glass creations to the elegance of pearls, I love it all. When I first started to make jewelry and began to buy beads, I found the history of the world and its people. They connect us. Please enjoy!
PRAYERS FOR THE EARTH
Recently, I began a new series. I play a game of Art Tag with members of the NCWCA ( Northern California Women's Caucus for Art). We select a theme and create a piece based upon it. We send this along to one of our partners and then in return receive a piece from the other partner. We create a second piece based both on the theme and the influence from the partner's piece. This is sent to the receiving partner as well. We create a third piece from the influence of the second piece based on the theme. This piece along with the partner's pieces is taken to a meeting where we view all the pieces created. I have done this game for nearly a decade.
Our newest theme is Extinction. The U. N. has a new report stating that we have some very serious sustainability problems with our planet. I began to think that we needed to put a lot more juice into this matter. So I started to create more jewelry based on natural and organic beads and materials. I found a mala made with Thai prayer beads. Much of the series is projected to be made with prayer beads or beads with special spiritual character from many spiritual traditions. We need all the help we can get. So stop in every now and then and see what is new.
