About Us
My husband and I started our farm with a few goats and a few mini donkeys as pets back in 2010. We had visited a local farmers market and came across a vendor selling goat milk soap. We could not believe how good our skin felt after using that soap, especially after using a soap that is made with moiturizing cream but still left our skin dry feeling.
We had started researching what was in our commercially made soap and became very concerned about the harmful chemicals that we had been using all these years and knew we had to make a change and we encourage you take a look into the bath and body products that you are using on your skin . What you put on your body is as important as what you put in your body.
We had an opportunity to take a class to learn how to make our own goat milk soap. After researching about donkey milk we couldn't believe all of the benefits in their milk So we searched for farms in the USA making soap using donkey milk to no avail but found several in Europe . We then decided to add donkey milk to our soap recipe which I make in small batches right here on our farm in the beautiful Sebasticook Region in Maine. As far as we know we were the first farm in the USA to offer Donkey Milk Soap .
After my husbands minor heart attack early in the spring of 2021 we knew we had to make some unfortunate life changes. One of the hardest decisions we have ever had to make and one we did not take lightly was spending the summer finding the best possible homes for our herd. Summertime taking care of animals is hard enough but Maine winters can be exhausting . We made sure they went together within their own family group to make the transistion easier for them. We miss our animals very much but keeping in contact with their new families and they are all doing great and very happy with their new homes.
We have friends who have a farm within 5 miles of us where we are now sourcing our milk . . They have the same ethics with their animals as we did with ours. So we are happy to keep things within our community.
