Artist Statement
My name is Brookelee Borchardt, and I am a visual artist based in SF, CA! My artistic purpose is to capture the beauty woven into our everyday lives. I aim to evoke this appreciation through my choice of colors, depictions of nature, and a sense of the magic that surrounds us. Mother Nature, with her intricate balance of beauty and imperfection, deeply inspires my work. She has created not only breathtaking flora but also humanity in all its flawed beauty. Lately, I’ve been exploring themes of nature’s abundance and its parallels with humanity.
I also find creative joy illustrating cats and other lovable subjects within my practice.
For me, drawing is an essential coping mechanism. It allows me to escape the “void of doom” and enter a more focused headspace, my thoughts expressed through the tip of my pen. My sketchbook is my daily sanctuary, where I record moments, fill pages with colors, ideas, and quotes, or release anything that needs expression. Through my art, I hope to encourage others to find peace by noticing the small, often-overlooked details of life.
I’m excited to continue exploring these themes and sharing my journey with you. I hope my work reminds people to seek the balance and calm we all deserve.
