The Virtual General Store: Where History Meets Handcrafted Art
I grew up in the small, rural town of Holmen, Wisconsin, inside a world that felt preserved in amber. My earliest memories are defined by a local general store with creaking, oil-stained wooden floors, frayed tire swings hanging from ancient oaks, and pale gold hay bales resting in quiet pastures. Today, that old general store is a distant memory, but that deep sense of nostalgia never left me. It evolved into a passion for the weathered, the forgotten, and the beautifully broken.
Now operating from Indio, California, ButterflyInTheAttic is my virtual general store. My work has transitioned into a darker, grungier, and deeply tactile aesthetic. I am drawn to the textures of peeling paint, rusted industrial iron, and the wistful, stained edges of history. This shop is a curation of that moody, antique vibe, split between the storytelling of paper and the preservation of mixed media.
When you step inside, you will discover:
~Handmade Junk Journals & Ephemera: Heavily distressed, layered, and grungy memory-keepers designed for fellow lovers of old paper.
~Moody Watercolor, Acrylic & Photography: Gothic-toned, atmospheric fine art capturing the raw, rustic spirit of Americana and nature.
~Resin & Cast Art: Glossy, preserved curiosities and unique tactile accessories that bring a touch of vintage whimsey to the modern day.
Every piece is handcrafted or captured with a reverence for yesteryear.
Thank you for wandering through my attic of treasures—I hope these pieces bring a bit of nostalgic magic to your world.
