Frequently asked questions
What format are the books in?
All books are in PDF format. Once you purchase, you receive an instant download link by email and can access the file from your account. PDFs work on every device: phone, tablet, computer, and e-reader.
How long are the books?
Building a Common Language is around 170 pages. Speaking Fluently With Your Dog is around 190 pages. Effortless Understanding is around 175 pages. Fluent in Dog: The Complete Workbook is around 370 pages and contains the full content of all three guides plus additional material.
Can I print them?
Yes. The PDFs are formatted for US Letter size and print well on a home printer or at any print shop. Many handlers print just the homework sheets and keep them in a binder for easy reference during training sessions.
Is this book the same as your in person training?
Yes. The books contain the exact same balanced training method I use with every client. The system is the same. The only difference is that in person training has me there to coach you in real time. The books give you the full method to follow at your own pace.
Do I need any special equipment?
Each book covers the equipment you will need, including how to choose and properly fit a correction collar, what kind of leash to use, and how to set up your training space. The Foundations chapters in every book walk you through equipment in detail.
Which book should I start with?
It depends on your dog. If you have a new puppy, start with Building a Common Language. If you have an adult dog or are starting fresh with an adopted dog, start with Speaking Fluently With Your Dog. If your dog already knows the basics and you want to take training to the next level, choose Effortless Understanding. If you want everything in one place and the best value, choose Fluent in Dog: The Complete Workbook.
Do I need to buy them in order?
No! Each book stands alone and includes a Foundations section that explains the core training concepts. You do not need to read Building a Common Language before reading Speaking Fluently With Your Dog. Choose the one that fits where you and your dog are right now.
