SW Missouri Ceramic Artist
Hi, I’m Kyle B., owner and ceramic artist at Craftwork Ceramics. My journey with clay began in college while studying studio art—I only took a ceramics class because it was required, but I instantly fell in love with wheel throwing and glazing. Over the next seven years, ceramics became my favorite hobby, and I gradually built a home studio with my own wheel, kiln, and tools.
In 2020, I turned my passion into a full-time career, and Craftwork Ceramics was born. I’ve now been creating ceramics for over 10 years, and every piece I make is a reflection of that experience and care.
My style is classic, modern, and clean, often featuring earth-toned glazes like blues, greens, and browns. I hand-mix my own glazes for cone 10 and raku firings, producing finishes you won’t find anywhere else. Beyond functional ware, I also enjoy exploring raku, pit firing, and kintsugi, as well as teaching primitive pottery techniques in the community.
Currently, my favorite pieces to throw are vases and planters, but I love making anything that brings joy and functionality. I also enjoy connecting with customers and collaborating on art projects. I teach local clay and ceramics classes at the Springfield Art Museum, and also locally.
If you see me out and about, please don’t hesitate to say “hi!” I love meeting fellow art lovers and sharing the joy of ceramics.
