Creative Endeavors began in 2003 as an outlet for my creativity.
I have always been a creative person and come from a highly creative family. My love of reading and learning has inspired me to teach myself how to do a multitude of different arts and crafts. In 2002, I decided that I wanted to do more than just doodle, so I picked up a book on pencil drawing, a sketchbook, and a set of drawing pencils and began teaching myself how to draw portraits and animals. Three weeks later, I entered my first art show where I won honorable mention on both entries. From there, I decided to try my hand at other artistic mediums such as acrylic painting and sewing. Later that year, I was diagnosed with severe food allergies. In order to make my life easier, I started cooking from scratch and started making my own soaps and lotions. Of course, like everything I do, I was very enthusiastic and went overboard with my soapmaking. I decided to start selling my soaps and found the perfect location in the town I grew up in. I called my business Creative Endeavors and registered my business with the state.
In 2003, my husband and I became foster parents to a sibling group of two. We adopted these two children in 2005 and a third child in 2008. To help the children adjust to living with us and also to help them deal with the emotional issues they were experiencing, I used art therapy. Today, my children and their artwork help inspire me and provide plenty of creativity.
I have known how to crochet for as long as I can remember. When I started my Etsy store in October 2011, I was hesitant to include my crocheted items. My daughter convinced me to list my first crochet item which was a purse made from woodland tweed yarn and it sold within 3 days. Since then, I have been selling convertible fingerless mittens and have thoroughly enjoyed making them. I have also begun to add more crochet items including wash cloths, slippers, purses, and cozies.
Creativity is my passion and art is my life. I hope you enjoy visiting my shop as much as I enjoy making the items you will find!
