A Critter Harmony Tail
Hello! My name is Emily and I run this shop with support from my boston terrier! Critter Harmony started naturally from experiences in my full time veterinary technician career. I decided to start making dog bandanas to send home with surgery patients to make them feel extra special. I always thought we had cute fabric, but knew we could do better. I didn't love that they lasted only one wearing, and that when you tie them they tangled in hair, or were too big or too small, flopped around, etc.
My Boston Terrier is the perfect ambassadors and dog model with her own Instagram @wrenlentlessbostie She is the perfect specimen to both test and show off my products.
I love quirky vintage stuff, and reusing/repurposing old things. I am able to get fabric from thrift stores and estate sales. I struggled to find an idea that worked and looked good enough to eventually sell. It took a year of planning and drawing and prototype after prototype. I tried bungee and cord locks, vintage buttons, which I really wanted to work. But they just weren’t up to my standards....
During one visit to my parents in Montana, my mom and I were sewing one of the prototypes. We were fairly happy with the results, but it didn't look clean enough. She started talking about making a scrunchie, the 90s hair accessory we all loved and is now back ridiculously popular. The light went on! What if I could create a bandana that somehow attached to a scrunchie? The Scrunch-Danna™ was born. It took some serious time and energy (and a fancy new Juki sewing machine) to get it up to my standards... But I finally have it dialed in.
There are 6 sizes for the body of the bandana, and the scrunch part is customized to fit any dog or cat. I have created thousands of these special bandanas for dogs and cats all over the world. I can tell they feel really special when they have one on 😍 All critters deserve to be spoiled.
Twisty-Scarves came about because I really like infinity scarves and thought they would be cute on pets as well. People have really come to LOVE them.
My convertible seat belt leashes have been an amazing seller of our for us and helped keep so many dogs safer in the car.
I offer a wide range of bungee tug toys and fur tugs so that more people can interact and play with their pups. I go around to dog shows periodically and the agility/dock diving/fly ball and other sport dogs can not get enough of our tugs.
Our easy on harness was a prototype we created years ago, and it just works so great and is so popular, not much has changed. We have improved our sizing options and hardware throughout the years. We also have another easy to put on minimal harness that frees up the shoulder for more mobility during walks and adventures, find them under XFinity. I definitely feel that it is important to have options, and I have used this design for the past year with my own dogs and have had many people make the switch.
I hope to eventually create more accessories for pets including bowties, flowers, fleece jammies and even doggy underpants! I also want to make more safety products including emergency kits. If there is something you would like me to make, let me know! I love coming up with new ideas!
In March I got pretty sick and ended up in the hospital with several issues that decidedly have made me feel very bad for a long time. Drew decided he was done with me and sent me to my parents to recover. I was heart broken but I have been pretty useless and the tiny Idaho town was not ever going to do me any favors. So I am back in Montana to start over. I am back up and running and happy to report I am able to now bring a pet boutique to my home town in Great Falls, MT!
