As a foreign exchange student in Nepal more than 25 years ago, I was introduced to the rich skills of Kathmandu, Nepal's traditional metal smiths. The first piece of jewelry I made in a small workshop in the heart of Kathmandu was a hand pounded silver chain. The experience of making such a "simple" piece reflected much of what is wonderful about Nepal. Each step of the process required the collaborations of many people. When I hold that silver chain in my hand I hold the love, knowledge and compassion of many individuals, not simply a chain.
For the past 2 decades I have been lucky enough to share the rich history and culture of the Kathmandu Valley with each item of finely crafted jewelry I design, produce and sell. My etsy store is a fine collection of jewels designed in collaboration with many talented individuals. Each center piece is a natural high quality gem, fossil, coin or other fabulous material including found gems and beach stones. All items are are 92.5% silver. Gold used is 22k.
