Eclectic Elephant Designs is located in Norman, Oklahoma. My store offers an interesting mix of vintage/antique and handmade items (jewelry, signs, custom vinyl, wind chimes and bedazzled lovelies) and is collocated within a local thrift store. As such, I have access to a seemingly endless supply of discarded treasures that, if not rescued/repurposed/upcycled, may be headed for certain doom (aka: landfill). I purchase as many base materials from the thrift store as possible and, in doing so, know that the dollars I spend go directly toward supporting many local community outreach efforts/programs. And because I’m paying significantly less than I would for comparable new items purchased at craft stores etc., I am able to keep my costs lower and pass those savings along to my customers. Save a landfill, help local community and minimize materials/overall project cost? Yes, please!
