    Owner, Owner

I am the founder, CEO, creative director, seamstress, shipper, social media manager, etc. at Faceless Queen. Hand-sewing is a way of turning inward, a kind of meditation that has been part of my daily life for many years, kind like an addiction 😅.

    Seamstress

Due to my fibromyalgia, some pieces are sewn by a seamstress I trust. She is one of the sweetest people I know and I’m privileged to have her on my team.

Frequently asked questions

Custom and personalized orders

I'm sorry, but I don't make custom pieces.
All pieces are one-of-a-kind and made from the materials I have on hand at the moment, which makes it very difficult to fulfill custom orders.
However, you can add a personal message to the order if it is a gift.

Gift wrapping and packaging

All Faceless Queen items are wrapped in tissue paper in a simple yet decorative style.
You can request to include a personal message if it’s a gift.

Care instructions

All clothing items will come with specific care instructions. You can also find these instructions in the item description.
However, here are a few tips I use for my own clothes that help them last a very long time:
- air out instead of washing
- wash inside out on cold and/or delicate cycles
- do not dry in direct sunlight
- avoid ironing

Sizing details

Please pay attention to the measurements for each item. These are listed in each listing. Since the clothing items come from different places and are from different brands (some well-known, others not so much), sizes may vary. If you have any questions about the size or the measurements provided, please contact me and I’ll be happy to help.

How is shipping handled?

If I could, I would delivery every single order myself 🖤
Since that's not possible, I rely on Portuguese Postal Office (CTT) to make sure all your orders get to you as fast as possible, safe and at a good rate.
For the packaging I only use reusable and recyclable materials, the exterior package may be reused or new, depends on what I have at hand. This is because I truly believe that our actions are more important than our words, so I do as I preach.

Disclosure: I cannot be held responsible for delays, lost items, or damage package during shipping. You can contact me, and I will do my best to help you, but I am not liable.

Are all the items secondhand, or pre-loved?

No, not all of them.
Although they are purchased secondhand on online platforms and at flea markets, or elsewhere, not all items are pre-loved. When a garment is new and has a tag, the tag remains attached to indicate this. But please note: these items have not been sanitized, so I recommend washing them before wearing.
At Relicário (Reliquary), the components are also used, with a few exceptions — for example, when I can’t find the components I need to finish the piece.

Why are some clothes more expensive than the originals?

In addition to the price at which the pieces were purchased, their value reflects the entire process required to make them available to you. They therefore reflect the sourcing, any necessary restoration, the transformation, the materials required for the transformation, the cleaning, and everything else that is part of
the development and completion of this process.

If the garments that have been upcycled are from the fast fashion industry, won’t they deteriorate more quickly?

In my experience, no. It all depends on the materials the pieces are made of and,
above all, on how they are washed and cared for. When I choose the pieces I want to work on, I know what materials they’re made of and how they should be cared for, so I make sure to follow those instructions.
What we shouldn’t do is throw away a garment just because it’s lost a button, or because the hem has come undone in one spot, or because it’s developed pilling. These are all simple examples of things that happen, that are bound to happen, that can be fixed, and that don’t make the garment disposable—even though we’re led to believe they do.

Why use fast fashion clothing as a starting point instead of pieces from lesser-known brands? Or why not start from scratch?

It is not yet widely known that the fashion and apparel industry is one of the biggest polluters and a major source of waste in terms of surplus raw materials and finished products.
The fast fashion model is primarily to blame, producing 52 to 56 collections a year! Every week, thousands upon thousands of new products are released, which will end up in landfills or take the place of natural landscapes.
There are textile recycling plants, but they lack the capacity to process such large volumes of material, and synthetic fibers cannot be recycled.
To address this situation, F.Q. works with existing materials, which makes this challenge even greater, promotes a circular economy, reduces waste, and demonstrates that “old” can be new again.

Where do you ship to?

For now, I ship to almost whole Europe but not to following countries due to the new EU obligations regarding packaging and shipping: Spain, France and Germany, for undetermined time.
I simply can't afford the shipping fees required to ship to these countries. Probably other countries will follow and it remains a chance of me closing this store if these policies are not revised, because I really can't afford to pay shipping fees in 27 countries.
If you're country is missing, please send me a message and I'll see what I can do. Thank you!
