This Privacy Policy describes how and when we collect, use, and share information when you purchase an item from us, contact us, or otherwise use our services through Etsy.com.
This Privacy Policy does not apply to the practices of third parties that we do not own or control, including Etsy itself or any third-party services you access through Etsy. You can read Etsy's Privacy Policy at etsy.com/legal/privacy to learn about its practices.
WHO WE ARE
FreakThrift designs and sells original illustrated apparel and digital artwork. We are a small independent shop, based in Turkey, selling through Etsy, which acts as the marketplace and payment processor for our orders. We do not operate a storefront, checkout, customer account system or newsletter of our own.
INFORMATION WE COLLECT
To fulfil your order, you must provide us with certain information (which you authorised Etsy to provide to us), such as:
- your name and shipping address
- your order contents and any personalisation text you provide
- the messages you send us through Etsy's messaging system
You may also choose to give us additional personal information if you contact us directly, for example when discussing a custom design.
We never see your full payment card details. Etsy handles payment; we receive confirmation that an order is paid, not your card number.
WHY WE NEED YOUR INFORMATION AND HOW WE USE IT
We rely on a number of legal bases to collect, use, and share your information:
- As needed to provide our services, such as fulfilling your order, settling disputes, and providing customer support. This is necessary for the performance of our contract with you.
- Where you have given your affirmative consent, which you may withdraw at any time.
- Where necessary to comply with a legal obligation, a court order, or in connection with a legal claim, such as retaining records of your purchase where tax law requires it.
- As necessary for our legitimate interests, where those interests are not overridden by your rights, specifically (1) providing and improving our products and service, and (2) complying with our obligations under the Etsy Seller Policy and Terms of Use.
We do not sell your personal information, we do not share it with advertisers, and we do not send marketing email. If we ever introduce a mailing list, we will only add you if you have given express consent, and you will be able to opt out at any time.
INFORMATION SHARING AND DISCLOSURE
We share your personal information only for limited reasons and in limited circumstances:
- Etsy. We share information with Etsy as necessary to provide our services to you and to comply with our obligations under the Etsy Seller Policy and Terms of Use.
- Production and shipping partners. We use third-party print-on-demand producers and delivery companies to make and post your order. We share your name and address with them only to the extent necessary to produce and deliver your item, and they may not use it for anything else.
- Business transfers. If we sell or merge our business, we may disclose your information as part of that transaction, only to the extent permitted by law.
- Compliance with laws. We may collect, use, retain and share your information where we have a good-faith belief that it is reasonably necessary to respond to legal process or government requests; to enforce our terms and policies; to prevent, investigate or address fraud, security or technical issues; or to protect the rights, property and safety of our customers or others.
SOCIAL MEDIA AND ADVERTISING CONTENT
We publish our own product photography and written descriptions to our own social media accounts, including Pinterest.
This does not involve your personal information in any way. We do not publish customer names, messages, order details, photographs or reviews. Our social media tools access only our own business accounts and our own content; they do not access any other person's account or data.
DATA RETENTION
We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to provide you with our services and as described in this policy. We may also be required to retain it to comply with our legal and regulatory obligations, to resolve disputes and to enforce our agreements.
We generally keep order data for 5 years, in line with our tax and accounting record-keeping obligations. After that we delete it.
TRANSFERS OF PERSONAL INFORMATION OUTSIDE THE EU AND UK
We are based in Turkey, and our production and shipping partners may be located in other countries, including the United States and the United Kingdom. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, this means your personal information will be transferred outside it.
Where we make such a transfer, we rely on the fact that the transfer is necessary to perform our contract with you. We cannot make and deliver your order without passing your name and address to the producer and the courier, and we share only the minimum information needed to do so. Where we engage a service provider, we require them by contract to protect your information and to use it only for the purpose of fulfilling your order.
YOUR RIGHTS
If you reside in certain territories, including the EU and the UK, you have a number of rights in relation to your personal information. Some apply generally; some only in specific cases.
- Access. You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Change, restrict, delete. You may ask us to correct, restrict our use of, or delete your personal information. Absent exceptional circumstances, such as where we are required to keep data for legal reasons, we will generally delete it on request.
- Object. You may object to our processing of some of your information on the basis of our legitimate interests, and to receiving marketing messages.
- Portability. You may ask for a copy in a portable format.
- Complain. If you reside in the EU or UK and wish to raise a concern about our use of your information, you have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Note that much of the information relating to your order is also held by Etsy as the marketplace. For data Etsy holds, Etsy's own privacy policy applies, and requests may need to go to them. You can contact Etsy at etsy.com/help.
COOKIES
We do not operate our own website and therefore do not set cookies. Etsy sets its own cookies on its site, governed by Etsy's cookie and privacy policies.
CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
Our products are not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top, and material changes will be noted here.
