About Us – The Funky Timber Story
Funky Timber began back in 2019, when two very different skill sets came together with one big idea.
I’m Lauren, with a background in sales and management, and Dan is a time-served joiner with years of hands-on experience working with timber. Together, we wanted to build something a little different — something creative, sustainable, full of character and, of course, a little bit funky.
We launched Funky Timber shortly before Covid, never imagining quite what was about to happen. What started as a small family business very quickly took off, and suddenly we were preparing and sending timber cladding to homes, businesses, designers and commercial projects all over the UK.
Since then, the journey has been incredible.
Our products have gone from being prepared in the early days by just the two of us, to now being produced by our brilliant, hardworking team. We’ve been incredibly fortunate to work with some amazing household names, major brands, designers and businesses across the UK and internationally — something we still feel genuinely humbled by.
But behind the growing business, we’re still very much the same family.
We have two little girls who have grown up alongside Funky Timber and have been part of the journey from the very beginning, plus our two French Bulldogs who are never too far away! We’re your typical slightly crazy, busy family juggling children, dogs, customers, timber, deliveries and new ideas — and we absolutely love it.
Everything we sell is built around the same values we started with: quality, craftsmanship, creativity and genuinely great customer service. Much of our cladding is still carefully prepared and finished by hand by our team, giving every order the character and individuality that Funky Timber has become known for.
From a small idea in 2019 to supplying projects for some incredible brands around the world, it has been a journey we could never have predicted.
And we’re still only getting started.
Thank you for supporting our family business and being part of the Funky Timber story. 🤎🪵
