Gilboy's Restoration - Preserving The Past for The Future
Gilboys was established in 1994 by Simon Gilboy.
Apprenticed at the age of 16 by the Dartington Trust owned Staverton Joinery. Simon went on to set up the small Riverside Restoration Workshop which has grown and developed with the help of William Arscott who joined the company in 1998.
Gilboy's is now in a purpose built premises located in Staverton right beside the Steam Railway and the beautiful River Dart in South Devon - England.
Gilboy's Gold Wood Polish was created by the team of restorers in the workshop out of a desire to finish their customers furniture with very best wax polish.
The majority of the commercially available polishes were not of the quality desired by the team so they started to develop their own beeswax polish using the purest of golden beeswax as the main ingredient.
Gilboy's were very fortunate at the time of developing the polish to be asked to carry out a program of restoration for Buckfast Abbey, It is exclusively from this 1,000 year old monastery where Simon hand selects the freshest beeswax to start making the wax polish.
Over many months of development and blending the team at Gilboy's successfully created their own polish, There was no compromise whatsoever on the quality of the ingredients added.
The finest natural, raw waxes were sourced from around the world to create the polish which was then applied to all of the furniture leaving the restoration workshop.
It is at this point that the team realised that it would not just only benefit their customers furniture but also to all lovers of wood. In 2016 Gilboy's started to sell the polish from their showroom and now it has received critical acclaim from all corners of the globe.

"I have used traditional Beeswax on my antique furniture for over forty years, but Gilboy's antique Gold Polish is outstanding, and out performs all the rest. Not only does the polish impart a deep lustrous shine to the wood, but it totally enhances the natural patina of the furniture, and it has a very pleasant perfume. The packaging is excellent, and the team who make it go out of their way to personalise every order. I am now converted to using this high standard and high class product."
