Mark was kind enough to make an additional cup to match the set of 3 he had listed and they are just lovely. Perfect for gong fu tea, the shape is elegant and fits the planes of the face perfectly (no awkward nose dynamics!), the rim is delicate and glazed just enough to fit the mouth. I am so pleased!

Asian styled and Functional pottery from Albuquerque NM

Clay is a fascinating material. Unlike other materials I have worked with in my science and engineering background, it reacts in such palpable and tactile ways. It bends to your touch, and flows when pressured. Even the platelets in our blood resemble the microstructure of clay.

I have found an unexpected home in ceramics since leaving an engineering career. This work provides a calm that I have not felt in any other work, and the process and product are both profoundly human. The centering focuses the mind and breath and the creation gives an outstanding reward. It is a priviledge to be able to create with my hands a form that will be used by others for a long time to come.

A lot of us search for purpose and meaning and for me it is this, right now.
