Frequently asked questions

Is your yarn ethically sourced?

Yes! Huck & Rae Fiber Studio yarn is ethically sourced and 100% mueseling-free.

What do you use to dye your yarn?

I use professional acid dyes and citric acid to dye ethically sourced animal fiber. After the yarn has been dyed, it is rinsed with lukewarm water and a gentle detergent.

Is Huck & Rae Fiber Studio pet friendly?

Huck & Rae Fiber Studio yarn is stored in a pet-free and smoke-free space. However, my dye studio is located in the basement of my family home which houses our 90lb American Bulldog mutt, Tyson. With that being said, there is a slight chance that his fur could come into contact with the yarn. Rest assured, that every effort is made to ensure that this does not happen.

How should I care for the items I create with the hand-dyed yarn?

Handwash in tepid water with a gentle detergent. Lay flat to dry. Please note, some color bleeding may occur during the first couple of washes. Red, purple, magenta, and blue-based colorways are more prone to bleeding. This is normal and will subside after a couple of washes. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

I purchased more than one skein of the same colorway, and they seem to be a little different. What’s the deal?

Huck & Rae Fiber Studio yarn is hand-dyed in small batches. This means that a specific colorway will be very similar across skeins, but not one is the same. Hand-dyed yarn is special, each individual skein is its own work of art!

Just a note: When using hand-dyed yarn in your projects it is highly recommended that you buy more than you think you need. This will allow you to alternate skeins every few rows to prevent color pooling (If this is not to your aesthetic).

I would like a larger quantity than what is available in the shop, do you do sweater quantity orders?

Yes! I would love to dye up a sweater quantity order for you! Please send me a direct message or email me at huckandraefiberstudio@gmail.com for inquires.

I would like to purchase a wholesale order or work with you on an upcoming project, how do I do this?

I welcome wholesale orders, please send me a direct message or email me at huckandraefiberstudio@gmail.com for inquiries.

I purchased some of your yarn and love it! How can I give your shop a shout-out?

I am so glad that you are happy with your purchase and want to give us a shout-out! It warms my heart to see all the beautiful projects created using Huck & Rae Fiber Studio yarn! Please tag us on Instagram @huckandraefiberstudio when you post your beautiful projects!

Are you able to wind my new yarn purchase into a cake?

Yes! Absolutely! I would be happy to wind your yarn into a cake free of charge! Please let me know in the notes at check out or send me a message specifying that you would like me to cake your yarn up!

I'm local to Colorado Springs, do you offer a pick-up/drop-off option?

Absolutely! If you are local to the Colorado Springs area I would be more than happy to arrange a pick-up or drop-off with you! Please use the code LOCAL719 in the discount code box at check out. This will remove any shipping charges and I will be sure to contact you through Etsy messenger to make arrangements.
