My art has taken many paths in my life, both light and dark, and now I hope to share it with all.
My name is Ira Drummy. I was born in Terre Haute, Indiana July 1st of 1988. I was raised on a small twenty- acre farm outside of Terre Haute. When I wasn’t doing chores around the house or outside with the animals, I was playing with my older brother, watching tractors plow the fields across the road or drawing my surroundings. Art was something I dedicated a large amount of my time to from a young age, and it only developed as I got older.
Sports was another love that played a big part in how I have ended up where I am today. I played soccer from the ages of 4-13. However, my sports career almost never happened. When I was 10 years old, I was diagnosed with epilepsy. I never knew how much this would change my life. I ended up being a placekicker for my high school to avoid the risk of head injuries. That and hard work led to me being an All-State Kicker. I played four years of college football for Anderson University while getting my BA in Visual Communications.
After graduating, I worked as a freelance graphic designer and photographer for six years while searching for full time graphic design jobs. After finally attaining one and working for awhile, I realized office jobs weren’t for me. I have worked multiple other unrelated jobs and lost them due to my epilepsy. This is what finally made me decide to attempt to sell my cards on my own and through other vendors.
My rural upbringing can be seen in a lot of my artwork. In many others, such as the snowmen cards, it is more difficult to notice. A lot of thought, time and passion go into each card I create. When I create a card, I’m thinking about what the customer would feel or what kind of things are important to them. Do the same seasonal things that appeal to me appeal to them? Do the same color combinations, or lack thereof, appeal to them as me?
I hope you strongly consider buying my cards and help me succeed at what I do best.
