Creative by heart, I love to craft especially knitting, spinning and sewing. If I am not crafting you probably find me playing boardgames with friends or spending time in nature - hiking, swimming, skiing,...

Frequently asked questions

KnittedDIYE? A name explanation.

KnittedDIYE is a play on words. Knitted obviously coming from Knitting. DIYE as a combination of DYE, symbolising my love for dyeing yarn, with DIE/DICE as a symbol for my boardgaming passion.
And did you notice: I also hid DIY (Do it yourself) in there. :)

How to take care of garments?

Wool has self cleaning properties, meaning if there is no stain it, in most cases it is enough to air out your garment.

If you want or need to wash your garment anyway, soak it in lukewarm water, which you may have added some woolwash to. (Carefully with as few friction as possible to remove any stains there are on the garment.)
After 15-20 min take take it out, but do not wring.
Roll the garment up in a big towel and press as much water out as possibly. You can use your hands or for more effect and use of your own body weight you can also hold onto something and stomp around on the towel until you think you cannot get any more excess water out.
Lastly lay your garment flat until dry.

Why not to wring or hang wet garments:

Mainly in knitting and crochet but also in woven pieces, wringing or hanging wet wool garments may lead to (most likely unevenly) stretched out stitches, leading the garment to fall diffently, grow bigger lengthwise or simply warp around itself (which it might not have done before).
This is especially true if you are working with big garments like shirts or sweaters, but can happen to socks as well.
