ABOUT ME
My name is Kostis Bacharidis, founder of KostisDesigns. I've been designing and hand-fabricating contemporary jewelry since 2012, working primarily with sterling silver, fossils, and natural stones.
It all started when I was a child. My father is a fossil collector and every time we went on vacations to the Greek islands and mountains, we returned home with unique treasures in our baggage such as fossils, fossilized corals, stones, shells. The plan for summer was always the same: “sun, sea and fossils!!!” These memories are fully painted with excitement, enthusiasm and beautiful images in my mind.
That fascination led me first to archaeology. I studied History and Hellenic culture, and I loved it — but I wanted to combine the past with the present in a more artistic way. After attending a a jewelry making seminar in 2012, I knew that working with metals was for me. I completed my jewelry studies at the Institute of Vocation named "Mokume" in Thessaloniki in 2015 and gained knowledge and the secrets of traditional silversmith’s craft.
Today I transform metals into contemporary and unique jewelry in my studio in Thessaloniki, Greece. I always focus on quality work that cannot easily be found in the world of mass-produced merchandise. My father’s discoveries from the past can be worn in the present and into the future.
