I’ve always been a creative person. I studied graphic design at college, but honestly, I’ve loved making things for as long as I can remember. There’s just something about taking an idea in your head and turning it into something real.

LIIN Designs started in 2020 after I had my twin girls. I was on maternity leave at the time and realised I really didn’t want to go back to the usual nine to five. I wanted to work and build something for myself, but I also wanted the freedom to be there for my family and not miss all those little moments that seem to go by far too quickly.

So I went back to work part time and started building LIIN alongside it. Pretty much every spare minute I had went into the business (usually once the kids were in bed!), and eventually it grew to the point where I could take the leap and make LIIN my full time job.

A lot has changed since then, but the reason I love what I do hasn’t.

I’m definitely that person who takes far too many photos 😂. My camera roll is ridiculous. But I love photos because they freeze a tiny moment in time. Kids grow up, families change and life just seems to get faster every year.

That’s really what LIIN is about; the little moments that mean everything.

Sometimes that’s a favourite family photo. Sometimes it’s an inside joke between you and your best friend, a message that means something to the two of you, a new baby, a wedding, a birthday, Christmas, or just something that instantly makes you think of someone you love.

Today, LIIN has grown from me working around my family into a small UK based team of four. Everything is still designed, made, printed and packaged by us in house, and we probably care a little too much about getting everything just right. But when you’re trusting us with your photos, your words and the things that mean something to you, I think we should.

I also genuinely love custom requests. If you have an idea in your head but can’t quite find what you’re looking for, send us a message. Some of my favourite products have started with a customer asking, “Could you make something like this...?”

Some of you have been shopping with LIIN for years, and one of the loveliest parts of this job is seeing the same names come back and watching your lives change through the things you ask us to make, new babies, birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, Christmases and everything in between.

Whether you’ve ordered once, come back year after year, recommended LIIN to someone or simply followed along, you’ve helped turn something I started during maternity leave into the business it is today.

I’ll never take that for granted.
