Functional and durable wearable art
Leather By Dar was founded by Darlene over 30 years ago. Darlene is a Manitoba Métis elder.
There is a shop in Dawson Bay, MB where all of our items are kept. Dawson Bay is a small village dependant on the fishing industry, and most of our visitors at the shop are fishermen/women.
Over the years Darlene has taught her daughter Kim the craft of leather making, she sews most of the moccasins and helps with beading. Bailley, Darlene’s granddaughter has also taken an interest in this beautiful art. For beading, Darlene’s specialty is the gorgeous and vibrant flowing flowers and vines, Kim enjoys beading bear paws, Inukshuks, eagle heads and flowers and if you spot anything out of the ordinary, something unique, then more than likely Bailley has had a hand in it.
Darlene is an amazing crafter who takes great pride in putting forth quality products for people to not only admire aesthetically but also to enjoy the warmth and comfort of each item. This is something important to Leather By Dar, every piece is painstakingly sewn to ensure longevity, using quality material. Also, every piece has been made with love 🥰.
