Lend a Leaf Tea Company came about through a combination of my love for delicious, high end teas and my desire to help reverse the damage that has been done to tea farming communities through centuries of unfair trading and labor practices. When I learned about the fair trade movement and how ethically traded tea and coffee make a real, lasting positive impact on farming communities around the world. I knew right away that God was leading me to be a part of the change that was happening and to help drive it. The tea lover inside of me worried whether using only ethically sourced tea and ingredients would affect quality but it was the opposite. The desire to source tea the right way steered us away from low end commodity teas and toward specialty teas grown on small, often family owned farms and fair trade farming co-ops and the results you can taste for yourself. The journey resulted in the best dang teas you will ever taste because they are made with the best ingredients. You can feel great about drinking it too!
Why are we passionate about selling ethically sourced tea? Because it means that our teas directly support fair wages and labor practices for tea farmers and their communities in developing countries around the world. By purchasing our products you are empowering farming communities to earn a fair wage for their crop which allows them to invest those funds where it is most needed. On top of only selling fair trade or direct trade tea and coffee, a portion of our profits directly support grassroots human development projects around the world.
