Hi, I'm the creator behind Lightning Bug Designs, a mum of two girls, a lifelong Disney fan, and someone who firmly believes that a good checklist can make almost anything feel possible!
As a child, I dreamed of visiting Disney and one day sharing that magic with my own family. Five years ago, that dream finally became reality when I planned an unforgettable Disney trip for 13 family members – including my husband, our children, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. I organised every detail, from bookings and itineraries to dining plans and special surprises.
Because I couldn't find exactly what I needed, I created my own planners and journals to keep everything organised. I also designed reveal tickets to surprise my loved ones with the exciting news of our adventure. What started as a labour of love quickly became something much bigger. Family and friends encouraged me to combine my passion for Disney, my love of planning, and my creative background into something I could share with others.
Creativity has always been a huge part of my life. I originally trained and worked as a set designer and stage manager before moving into event planning, where organisation, attention to detail, and creating memorable experiences became second nature.
Then life took an unexpected turn. Several years ago, my oldest daughter became seriously ill and spent many months in Great Ormond Street hospital where she was diagnosed with a very rare and life-limiting lung condition. Our family's world changed overnight and hospital visits, daily medication and care for her condition has become our new everyday. So more than ever, I wanted to be there for both of my girls, giving them everything they need while still finding a way to earn a living and do meaningful work that I loved.
That's when Lightning Bug Designs was born.
Today, every planner, journal, checklist, and reveal ticket is designed with the same care and attention that went into planning that first family Disney adventure. My goal is to help make your trips, celebrations, and special moments a little less stressful and a lot more magical.
My daughters are a huge part of the creative process. They help inspire designs, test ideas, and often provide the final verdict on what feels truly magical. Their imagination, excitement, and sense of wonder can be found in so many of the products you'll discover here.
