Oriental and Occidental Watercolour Painting by Dawna
Bonjour!
I'm Dawna, a French-Filipino watercolorist BASED in Spain who started to paint at a young age. I travelled the world with my baby and husband for the last four years. So all my paintings are travelled inspired.
During those travels, not only we did soul-searching but we also discovered right before our eyes the amazing beauty of the world. It inspired me to paint landscapes and cityscapes. We also saw right before our eyes the beaming problem in our environment. Trees were cut down for no important reason.
WHAT I DO
I take inspiration from all my travels (Asia and Europe) photos and keep them alive through my arts. I love painting landscapes and portraits.
My art's influenced are Joseph Z. and Chien Chung Wei, they are my source of inspiration!
I think every country has in own beauty worthy to be painted. Having seen a lot during this travels including the pollution and all other environmental problems that the world is facing right now, it is my humble wish to show all these beauty through my paintings, and hopefully will make people realized how lucky we are and why we should all take our part in preserving our mother nature.
So far, most my artworks have became a part of private collections in Europe, Asia, and USA. They also part of online galleries and has been featured in thisisspain and storepreneur. This year 2021 I am preparing to participate in painting competition worldwide and have my first solo-exhibition. I also teach art classes in Spain locally and collaborates with the other local artists.
I love trees for it's beauty, purpose, and positive energy. In my paintings, you can see there's almost always a tree! So one day, as an artist I was pondering what can I do to contribute in my own little ways for the Earth's healing. Together with family back home in our plantation garden shop, we plant trees almost everyday for every purchased of my paintings!

Here's the rest of my story.
One usual rainy day in the summer solstice, my mom came home with bundles of books, as I wasn’t a gifted reader, my attention was easily caught by the smell of a freshly printed photo calendar. As a little girl, I was always fascinated by the beautiful sceneries (even just)through a picture.
Growing up in a small village, I felt the hunger of an outside world, just like in every children’s book. Scanning excitedly through each of the photo that represents a month, my childhood dreams began. I want to be in all these places and paint them!
Everyday, I do my best to paint. Everyday is a new lesson to learn. With every painting, something new is discovered. I think with the right attitude and dedication, everyone can achieve their hearts' desire.
