The things you are passionate about are not random, they are your calling.
MG Wood Co. is led by my hubs, Brian and myself, Viktoria. I have an art and science degree with an eye for design, and Brian has always been an avid wood worker. When he found out his best friend of 20+ years was diagnosed with Stage IV Metastatic Melanoma in 2020, he had to do something. So, he started making burnt and hand carved wooden American flags and selling them to give all the profits to his best friend towards everyday essentials and potentially non-insurance covered treatment. Selling those flags went far too well and Brian couldn’t keep up with the amount of flags he had to make. So Brian’s desire to buy a CNC machine emerged to make things easier, and that same best friend invested in this idea we had for this shop so they would have a project to work on together. Hence, our name came about, the ‘M’ is for our last name, and the ‘G’ is for Brians best friend.
It took a long time to get things going while we had another baby and things got hectic. As for Brian’s best friend, he was doing so well for a good amount of time until his cancer returned aggressively. Unfortunately, after fighting so incredibly hard for as long as he could, he passed away in October of 2022. This wouldn’t have started without Brian’s best friend and although it’s late and it’s 2023, our hearts are incredibly heavy. So this is for you Will. We all miss you.
