Each piece carries a part of my soul.
My name is Erkam, I’m 32 years old, and I own a small workshop in Ankara, Turkey, where I craft jewelry from 925 sterling silver. I first stepped into this trade at the age of ten, working alongside my father. He was a traditional silversmith, meticulous and devoted to his craft. During my apprenticeship with him, I learned that this work is shaped by patience and dedication.
When my father gave me the chance to make my first ring, my hands shook with excitement. The feeling I got from molding silver’s cold, shiny surface was unlike anything else. That first ring may have been imperfect, but to me, it was priceless.
Over the years, I’ve developed my own style. I’ve blended the traditional techniques I learned in my father’s workshop with a modern touch. Now, I try to tell my own story with each piece I create; some are simple and reserved, while others are intricate and bold. Each piece carries a part of my soul.
One day, a customer told me that they felt the piece was made just for them. It was in that moment that I realized this was more than just a job—it was a way of connecting with people. The long hours spent in my Ankara workshop, the process of shaping Turkish-made silver, and even the occasional cuts on my hands all make me feel truly connected to this craft.
