Mi Bola Loca (My Crazy Grandma) is a love story for my granddaughter
My first born had his first born. A beautiful little girl with chubby cheeks and an infectious laugh. She is her grandma's heart.
My granddaughter was blessed to have several grandmothers (some great and some step) that love her to bits and pieces. Of course, us grandmas needed to be called something! My Mexican heritage offered me a few more names to choose from in the "grandma" department. Nana was already claimed, so I went with Abuela (Abuelita). My beautiful little girl could not pronounce Abuela so she called me "Bolla" (boy-yah). Then she went off to visit other parts of her family and came back calling me "Bola" (Bow-La). I was not fond of that name. In fact, in Spanish, bola means ball. As time went on, I grew to LOVE that name and it is now my identity. I would not be called any other name!
I started my Etsy business because of her. She inspired me to get back into my creative side and I found my happy spot, making and creating all the things. As she has grown, so has my creativeness. What you see here in my shop is 6+ years in the making. I have progressed from crochet, knitting and all the yarn arts, to sewing and bead working, I was in the machine embroidery and sublimation game for a while too. I made everything from face masks and ear savers to crochet afghans. I crocheted and knitted infant clothes and booties, but soon learned that sewing was much faster than "yarning".
What began as "Crochet by Starlight", grew into a 2nd shop named "Bola and Crumb". These shops represented different sides of my creative endeavors. Due to some soul searching, I have narrowed down my business and am now in the process of combining my shops. I rebranded "Crochet by Starlight" into "Mi Bola Loca". So if you see branding from various shops, just know that they are all me and I am working to slowly integrate them into one personality in this shop.
I am blessed beyond measure to be able to experience the joy of motherhood and now the joy of being Bola to my little crumb. The total love and devotion one feels toward their children is multiplied to infinity once they have grandbabies.
Thank you for stopping by my shop and reading my story.
